Nicole Buchmann, WILX Studio 10
Hi there! I'm Nicole Buchmann! I am the executive producer and cohost of the award-winning lifestyle show Studio 10. As a lifelong Michigan native, I grew up in Kalamazoo and graduated from GVSU, getting my start in the news industry nine years ago in the Upper Peninsula before continuing my broadcasting career in Mid-Michigan at WILX.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, especially exploring trails, kayaking, and paddleboarding. I am also a HUGE sports fan, cheering on our Detroit teams! As a lifelong musical theater lover, I'm often listening to showtunes and catching a local musical. I really strive to bring a positive attitude and a little extra joy into every situation.
Tell us about a recent local event or experience you enjoyed.
I just wrapped up the "Learn to Skate" program at Biggby Coffee Ice Cube in East Lansing! It was so much fun to literally sharpen my ice skating skills with other community members of all ages. The teachers were so nice and friendly! I highly recommend picking up a hobby that you have always wanted to do and do it! I don't think you will see me at the Winter Olympics in 2030, but I had a lot of fun!
If you could only eat at ONE locally-owned restaurant for an entire month, which would you choose (and why)?
Cask and Co. / Front 43! They have a very diverse menu that is also really good! I love their burgers and Pad Thai. So if I ate there for a whole month, I would finally be able to try more of their meals!
Which local business, organization, or place deserves way more attention than it gets?
Grand Grillin in East Lansing is great! The food is amazing whether you eat there or take it to go. Plus, they also serve ice cream there and I am a sucker for a sweet treat. I also love Choice Farm Market in Webberville. It is a great place to get local produce and Michigan-Made products. They also serve food that is perfect for to-go meals and they have wine tasting!
What’s a piece of life advice you’d like to share with anyone reading this?
Treat everyone you meet with kindness and positivity, you never know what someone is going through behind the scenes. A small smile or encouraging word from you might be exactly what they needed to get through the day.
