Who are you? Give us a little peek into your background, lifestyle, work, interests, and goals.
Twelve years ago, I was thriving in a business career I truly enjoyed. I had always imagined that my calling would be to live out my faith as a business leader. I earned degrees in business management and management, and my professional experience spanned customer service, finance, and human resources.
Yet over time, something began to stir in my heart. What started as a quiet sense that God might be calling me to something different gradually became more persistent. One day, a trusted spiritual mentor asked me a question that changed everything: “Would you leave your corporate career to become a head of school?”
That question stayed with me. After much prayer and reflection, it became clear that God was leading me into Christian education. In 2015, I stepped into my first head of school role.
My background in business turned out to be an unexpected blessing in school leadership. I now serve as Head of School at Lansing Christian School and continue to pursue my passion for faith-driven leadership and academic excellence. In addition to my role in school leadership, I serve as an adjunct professor in business and organizational leadership and mentor doctoral students as a dissertation committee member.
My wife, Jeanna, and I met in college and have been married for 23 years. Our life together has included remodeling homes, road-tripping across the country, and raising six wonderful children. Our oldest son, Brone, is a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, and our daughter Charlotte is a freshman at Sweet Briar College. Our younger children—Natalie, Eli, Judah, and Thea—are all part of the Lansing Christian School community.
Looking back, I never would have predicted this path. But I’m grateful for how God has shaped each step of the journey. It is a privilege to serve in a role that partners with families and churches to help form the hearts and minds of the next generation.
Tell us about a recent local event or experience you enjoyed.
I recently went to an MSU basketball game, and it was a fantastic experience. The student section is epic, and it is fun to watch the players and coaches.
If you could only eat at ONE locally-owned restaurant for an entire month, which would you choose (and why)?
Joe's on Jolly. Everything I have eaten at Joe's has been fantastic. One of the things I enjoy most is their Shareables/Appetizers. Truly unique and excellent. One of my absolute favorites was the traditional French onion soup.
Which local business, organization, or place deserves way more attention than it gets?
Flower Child Bakery in Grand Ledge – Incredible variety of savory and sweet treats. Great for brunch, breakfast, or some desserts for dinner.
MEAT on the WEST Side – This is a local butcher shop in Grand Ledge. Their meat is top-notch and is priced well. I enjoy grilling or smoking all varieties of meat, so this shop is an essential stop for the family and me.
What’s a piece of life advice you’d like to share with anyone reading this?
Be faithful with the responsibilities God places in front of you today, even when you cannot yet see where they will lead. Much of life is not about having a perfectly mapped-out plan, but about responding faithfully to the opportunities and challenges placed before you. Over time, those small steps of faithfulness often become the path that shapes your calling.
