517 Living Community Facebook Group Networking
Interested in doing some virtual networking in our Greater Lansing community Facebook group of 86k members? Here are some tips to optimize your experience:
First of all, make sure you have pre-approved posting status! To obtain that status, read our group rules post and comment on it with "I agree to follow these rules." That post can be found in our group's "featured" section.
Start your posts with a question. ~90% of our group's top (best performing) posts are questions or feedback requests. EXAMPLE: “Which of these hairstyles do you like best?” vs. “I’m a hair stylist.”
Create your posts from scratch. ~0% of our group's top posts were created on a different platform (e.g., your business page) and shared to our group wall.
Add a photo. People like photos.
Don't include external (non-Facebook) links or graphics with websites on them, whenever possible. The Facebook algorithm doesn't like them. Directing people to your comment on your post for a link seems to work well. EXAMPLE
React to and comment on your own post, and be sure to respond to others’ comments! Every bit of engagement (even from trolls*) improves the visibility of the post.
Interact with other members’ posts. Treat our group like an in-person gathering.
Ultimately, do whatever you want. These are just some things to try, if you're interested.
Not sure where to start? Try out this schedule:
MONDAYS: Create a promotional post from scratch. EXAMPLE
WEDNESDAYS: Engage with (react, comment, share) other members’ posts.
FRIDAYS: Act like a regular human (but keep it community-focused). EXAMPLE
*If someone interacts negatively with your content, don’t feel the need to respond to them. If you do respond, consider taking your time, sticking to the facts, and not letting your emotions get involved. To report a comment to a group admin, click the three dots to the right of it.
