Adam Williams | Community Member Spotlight
Who are you? Give us a little peek into your background, lifestyle, work, interests, and goals.
Originally from Detroit, I moved to the area for the tech industry and initially spent time helping youth leverage media. That path naturally evolved into community organizing across both the nonprofit and faith sectors. Today, I serve as the director and founder of MissionsFilled.org, where my primary focus is helping people mobilize their communities around a meaningful cause. People around town mention me as a connector who is always present and invested in community development and humanitarian needs.
Tell us about a recent local event or experience you enjoyed.
The Lansing Bless Fest is an incredible experience. For over 22 years, it has brought together more than 40 diverse organizations to provide free practical resources, services, and entertainment to over 2,000 families. This is one of the most fulfilling experiences for volunteering and serving others holistically.
If you could only eat at ONE locally-owned restaurant for an entire month, which would you choose (and why)?
The Avenue Cafe, hands down. I eat there weekly because of the delicious and unexpected food options, the diverse community it draws, and the kind owner who makes everyone feel welcome.
Which local business, organization, or place deserves way more attention than it gets?
Lansing Promise, because of the incredible, life-changing investments they make into our youth's future. I am filled with hope as they empower donors to join a child's village of support, transform generations, and celebrate every youths critical transition into higher-learning and economic stability.
